geth -> lightbox help please!!!? (3/8/2007 14:00:13)

hello there

hopefully, someone can help me with this question???

ive followed the lightbox steps as posted here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...box2/index.htm

and for some reason, it only works in IE and not FF etc... my knowladge of web stuff isn't great at the moment as this is my first website: http://www.jacha.co.uk - when you click the numbers under the 'work' category, the lightbox should appear...(but doesn't)

does anyone know how i can make this work? this has been bothering me for a few days now

thanks alot

You've missed something. If you hover over the numbers and look in the status bar at the bottom you'll see they're all trying to link to #.

In the code you have a load of lines like so

<a href="oil/1.jpg" rel="lightbox[oil]" title="Self Portrait"><area shape="rect" coords="-20,-11,23,18" href="#">

The href in the link bit is for the picture but there's another href in the area which is just #.

ah, thankyou so much for that...in really good speed aswell!!!!

forgive me for being dumb...right, so am i unable to link the lightbox from a 'hotspot' then?

is there any chance you could give and example of what the script should be?

Links from a hotspot are not what it was meant to do although I can see what you wanted.

It could probably be hacked to do it but I don't have the time right now. If you can hang on for a couple of hours or so, I have a client site to upload and some food to eat before I pass out, then I'll take a look.

thank you so much!

OK, I've had a play with it and it just will not work with maps. It seems to be because you have to break the map code up and it doesn't like it.

The only way you'll get it to work is to break the image map up into individual images. Replace the <area> tags with <img> tags and don't forget to stick the closing tag for the hyperlink </a> back on the end of each line.

Either that or completely rewrite the javascript to use the DOM ismap and I don't have a spare week to do it.

thanks so much for the effort anyway!!

That's what I was going to suggest before I fell asleep at the keyboard last night [sm=icon_redface.gif] (this is what happens when you lounge around on the sofa on a laptop - you wake up in the early hours of the morning wondering why your legs are a bit warm and why you can see pretty rotating patterns - *note to self - change screensaver to something a bit less psychodelic* [:D])
