I have a table of 3 pics inside #contentandsidebar. How can I make the table and its images commence higher up in IE6?

Background:
1. #contentandsidebar contains #content that is floated left, and a #sidebar floated right, as well as the offending table. In IE6 (not IE7 or FF) I find that the table gets pushed down with an extra big space so that the table only commences once the #sidebar content ends.
2. I've tried not having the images in a table but I can't seem to remove the padding/margin between the images, so then the images are too wide for the intended space.
3. I want the images to sit on top of the footer.
4. The reason for having the #contentandsidebar div with a blue background is so that the blue at the bottom of the sidebar gradient extends to the bottom of the content and sidebar.
Any suggestions much appreciated!
