Ok, so I've been using Frontpage for several years. I like the way you can use the Dynamic Web Template to bring consistency to the web pages. Here I only need to put the menus in once and its all taken care of.

So now as I move to Dreamweaver, how do I do the same thing. I'm Dreamweaver call it something else. I'm using Fireworks to design and do the initial build of the pages. Can something be done there?

I've read through the documentation for the link. It looks pretty easy, HOWEVER.......

I created a template page in Fireworks. It has a banner at the top with four hotspots and links going to four different store pages. It also has a banner down the left side with buttons to link to other sections in the website.

I have also created a home page in Fireworks.

So I've exported the template from Fireworks to Dreamweaver. I saved it as a template and defined a content area. It is now in the template area of the assets.

I can't seem to get it to work well as a template. If I try to create a new page and modify that new page in the content area in Dreamweaver it screws up my left hand border.

When I try to apply the template to the home page I export from Fireworks it imports the whole page including the area that the template occupies. So then I have the banner and side in twice.

I thought that Fireworks was suppose to make things easier.........HELP!!!!

You could always use includes, does the same thing, one menu changed, updated in all the pages.

One line of code in the head of each page to pull it in.

Good information but it doesn't answer my question. I want to be able to interface Fireworks with Dreamweaver. I have the books on Training from the Source for both products, but they are not clear. I have read the Dreamweaver link provided by Douglas, but it doesn't help. I found another document but that doesn't help either.

As to linking Fireworks in it's something I would never do, nor Photoshop or anything else. Hotspots are not proper links, they're active areas of a graphic. If somebody comes along with images turned off in their browser, or with a text only browser, then they see absolutely nothing on your page.

If that's the way you want to do it though then the only thing I could find is this one?
