Reflect -> Google Analytics pattern? (3/10/2007 10:12:14)

Hi,

I was hoping maybe people might want to share hits to the site map file. I am not talking about the standard site map file that is presented to your visitors, only Google's tool.

As an example I have a new site that I setup with Google's Analytics "web tool". It has been a little over a month now. The second site is an older/established site.

Following are mine from the new site with changes almost every day:

Time Increment Hits
March 10, 2007 1
March 08, 2007 1
March 05, 2007 1
March 02, 2007 1
February 25, 2007 1
February 24, 2007 1
February 20, 2007 1
February 18, 2007 1
February 17, 2007 1
February 15, 2007 1
February 14, 2007 1
February 11, 2007 1
February 04, 2007 1

Following are from the site I haven't touched in six months:

Time Increment Hits
March 07, 2007 1
March 03, 2007 1
March 01, 2007 1
February 26, 2007 1
February 25, 2007 1
February 21, 2007 1
February 20, 2007 1
February 18, 2007 1
February 16, 2007 1
February 15, 2007 1
February 14, 2007 2 (I guess I was feeling Google's love this day [;)])

I see three days out of the sample showed hits on both sites. Other than that no matches on days. No order to days in between/not visited.

As you/I see from mine, Google seems to be a random thing. It doesn't seem to have a set schedule or pattern. I also have been updating the pages heavily throughout my first listed site above during this time span, so changes should have been noticed more I would have thought.

Does anyone else see a pattern on the days not visited on their site?

Take care,

Brian

45 views and no takers?

Bummer, good chance to learn by comparison [:(].

I played with telling Google to spider my site maps last night. Interseting again.

All in the same login session. I asked google to spider my sitemap from the appropriate page. All requests were made within 5 mintues total time from first to last.

Results, again no pattern.

Site 1: Bot hit site in 33 mintues
Site 2: Bot hit site in 12 mintues
Site 3: Bot hit site in 92 mintues
Site 4: Bot hit site in 27 mintues

Now I could see the first site I requested getting hit first, working down to site four. This did not appear to be the case. All sites were touched on every page by the bot. At least it is thorough I guess.

Take care,

Brian

Guess I know how to kill a thread [8|] before it begins.
