Format database Text - 3/11/2007 9:54:26
Not quite sure how to put this question!!

I have an access database on my website that provides questions and answers to site visitors.

I am trying to format the text in the answer to include bold, underline and coloured text.
When I put the formatting in the answer section of the database then display it on site you can see all the formatting tags while the text remains as plain text.

I changed the details in the database and told it to display the text as rich text but this did not work.

I am completely stumped as to how I can achieve this. Its probably something completely simple but I just can't find it!!

The site is designed and uploaded using Expression Web.

I have two pages to run the database.
The question page and the Answer page. A filter takes you to the selected record in the answer page.

Ya.
Items like <b> and <p class="item">.
I am trying to get it to refferance the HTML and display the information as requested.

Are you reading the data to the page with a details view or the datareader?

I'm using Details View to display the data.

I know logically the inline html should over ride anything else. But check and see if you have a template style applied to the details view.

Hi Mar0364

Here is the page and what it looks like.
http://www.hairways.ie/simsuport.aspx
Very early stages but you should get what I mean.

Its showing up the tags and not using the formating.

I have no templates emabled on the design and layout.

Hi mar0364

I have changed the name of the page and I have one item up and running now.

The new link is.
http://www.hairways.ie/simsupportq.aspx

This is going to be the questions page (Only one item on it so far)

When you click the link you will then be taken to the answer page.

It seems to be formating OK now since I changed to datalist view.

The pages are accessing an MS Access database at the back end.

This Expression Web is just fantastic :)

Glad to hear things are working out. If I'm ever in IE in know where my hair cut will be.

Expression s great once you learn to deal with the little things MS puts in all their products. (just to frustrate us)
