levins -> blurry image (3/29/2007 22:00:18)

I have blurry images. Nothing seems to work. The images look great in photoshop & frontpage. The problem happens when I preview in browser. I read the forums and tried all the suggestions I came across.

What is causing my images to look blurry?

Are you trying to resize the images via the HMTL?

jaybee -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 3:42:06)

Are these the same images we were talking about before? If so, check them on somebody else's machine, I'm beginning to think it could be a problem specific to you.

I've got a similar thing going on with fonts. What used to be clean and clear now has jaggy edges but it's fine on the other machines and yes, I've tried everything I can think of to sort it out and nothing works.

This is not the same image as before. Someone else did check it on their computer and told me it was blurry.

I resized the logo in photoshop. The cell has the same dimensions as the logo.

link would be good.

yes it would...http://www.sanworx.com/testsite02

Are you sure you're not being overly critical? It certainly doesn't look that bad to me.[8|]

levins -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 10:42:06)

I thought it was fine. The customer wants me to make it more crisp.

levins -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 11:22:41)

I sent the customer a list of sites to show him other companies logos are also a bit blurry.

jaybee -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 12:06:27)

It's in a flash movie. When you save flash you can compress and that's probably what's happened. If you don't then the movie will be larger.

I had you look at the wrong page. This is the logo I am talking about

[sm=whistling.gif] mutter mutter, complete waste of time, mutter. [;)]

Tht one looks fine to me, I'd be more worried about the exploding flash text on the right as that is badly fuzzed.

Mike54 -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 16:08:45)

I'd have to agree with jaybee, it looks fine to me. Even with a so called "loss less format" tiff there's only so far it can be reduced without losing some quality.
Just out of curiosity how big was the original file?

levins -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 16:48:40)

the orginal size was 980x400.

I'm leaving the logo as is. I will work on the flash text.

Mike54 -> RE: blurry image (3/30/2007 16:53:26)

If it was a tiff you could try reducing incrementally with a touch (just a touch) of unsharp mask at each step. I don't think it will make much difference though.

Tailslide -> RE: blurry image (3/31/2007 2:11:58)

Looks fine to me too - sheesh, some clients are just NEVER happy!

jaybee -> RE: blurry image (3/31/2007 6:39:45)

I have a new 19" widescreen hi-res monitor arriving next week, I can take a look at it on that once I get it and see if maybe he has some posh bit of kit that shows him something we're not seeing.

If it's not that, does he wear glasses? Maybe it's time he had a checkup.

My only other suggestion is to save it as a png file rather than a jpeg which is lossy. The file size will be larger but at least it should be sharp, assuming you have the original sharp image that is.

levins -> RE: blurry image (4/2/2007 10:28:56)

The image looks great in frontpage. It gets blurry once I view it in the browser. I will try saving it as .png file and see what happens.

jaybee -> RE: blurry image (4/4/2007 11:27:47)

Right I've just checked it on my brand new, digital wide screen and it's very slightly fuzzy but nothing to write home about. Can't see anyone visiting the site peering at it for any length of time.

levins -> RE: blurry image (4/4/2007 22:05:08)

That is so nice of you to check the images on your new monitor. The customer seems fine with it.

Thank you!
