UK Web Developers - 4/2/2007 5:11:41
I recently received an email from what I initially thought was yet another link farm. I normally delete these immediately but this one referred directly to my site content and at least showed they'd been and looked. So instead of zapping it I went and looked at the site.

What I read on there looked interesting but I've been caught before and I'm a lot more wary these days. Those of you who know me will also know I'm not exactly the shy wallflower so I promptly replied to the email and requested information on the owner, his background, his qualifications for doing this and reasons behind it.

The upshot of it all is that we've spent most of the weekend emailing back and forth and I'm happy that the owner, Steve Read, is serious about the venture and has the passion to run with it.

They have a pre-launch offer for developers who do work in the UK to sign up free. You can apply from their site. If you want to read a bit more about them and their reasons behind the launch you can do so at:

That looks great Jaybee,

Remember a while back I posted something about an Australian group that was doing kind of the same thing? Sounds pretty similar to that one, only it's good to see the emphasis on Web Standards and Accessibility.

How were your eyes after reading his site though? Everything looks a bit blue and pink around here.
