when I use photoshop and try to make the text picture transparent, the edges become terrible and the letters are all fuzzy. Is there a way I should know that works for sure?

You need to make sure the the text is set to "anti-aliasing" and experiment with the tolerance settings when you're making backgrounds transparent until you get a result you're happy with.

and change the text size to largest, only the left side of the screen gets bigger nothing else. How can I make that happen for me on my page, so themain links don't change?
What do you mean "Specify the font in pt " ? Would that help ?

I figured out how to make the text. How about the above? Can anyone help me?

If you check out the stylesheet for the page you'll see that the style for that table cell, which has a class name of "ultrasmall" has it's font size specified in px, which are pixels. Pixels can't rezise though, so if you resize the text, the size of anything specified in pixels stays the same.

Trying to override a user's preferences when it comes to things like font sizes though is almost never a good idea. People change default font sizes for a reason and to try and force them to accept a font size you judge to be right is bad practice, and liable to find them heading off to a site that's easier to read. Your job as a designer is to make your design flexible enough that it'll accommodate changes in font size without getting knocked badly out of shape.

Thank you. Is it safe to copy and paste stuff out of notepad. I figured it wouldnt bring all the crap with it as if I would copy it from word?

Copying and pasting from Notepad's fine, because Notepad removes all the formatting. That's the safest way to copy from Word. Copy your text from Word into Notepad, and then copy and paste from Notepad.

Or download PureText and install it. It puts a PT icon in your system tray. You then copy your text, click on the PT icon and it removes the formatting, you can then paste into your page.

Guys thanks a lot. You really helped me a bunch with this. I already started the re-do of the website with tables and its going pretty good, since I have all the info and text already. Getting used to tables is not hard, and you can do everything. I have been comparing the code to before and it looks like English (now) compared to (Japanese) before, while the page looks the same in preview. Anyways, here is the web if you want to take a look while the new one is being done. www.imageonesalonandspa.com
I know the name is long but thats what they wanted, I told them to make it www.imageonesalon.com but they didnt want to.
Anyhow, thanks a lot for all your help and time, i learned more stuff here than in college...
I am sure i will bug you again here, in hopes that you will reply... thanks...

in case you guys need any help with network security/servers let me know, i'm better at that.

Rookie

Already a new question. How would I Link www.imageonesalon.com to www.imageonesalonandspa.com

i dont want to pay monthly hosting charges for both addresses, just the once a year domain name charge.

Is there a way to do it?

Be sure to let them know they have the option to have more than one domain name point to a website. Domain names are so cheap nowadays. Having their full, actual name IS important but, that said, having a more managable domain name (size-wise) on a business card and for an email address is very important too. Either way, you might want to tell them to use upper and lower case so it's easier to read a domain name when in print since it's not case sensitive....for example use www.ImageOneSalon.com or www.ImageOneSalonAndSpa.com or appt@ImageOneSalon.com

How would I do that. Its is through yahoo hosting.
Would I just register the name www.imageonesalon.com and how would I point it to www.imageonesalonandspa.com?
This might be easy, i'm just unaware of how to

Depends on where your domains are parked and what your hosting account allows.

The easiest way is usually to have one domain with the host and the other at the park, forwarded to the first domain.

Your account may allow you to park other domains and point them at the site. Be careful with add-on domains though if you have them. You can't normally point those at the root so you'd need a page in a subfolder containing a redirect which can get a bit messy.

really? never knew some hosting companies would cause those kind of problems.

I can and do point several, no charge, to the same account. Of course you can always use "web forwarding" at Network Solutions to point as many as you want to whatever webpage you want.

I host sites with 3 different companies and they're all different.

One doesn't allow add-ons at all only parks.

One allows add-ons but not pointed to the root only subfolders. If you want to point to the root you have to use parked.

The other I have only just started using and haven't got my head round yet.

I get all my domains via Freeparking which gives me loads of flexibility as to where domains point or forward.
