DebSpecs -> HTML email messages (4/2/2007 16:18:32)

I created an HTML page in Front Page, then copied/pasted the text into an HTML email using our new email marketing program, but the formatting got messed up.

The entire page was centered when viewed in FP, and even in IE when i cut and paste the code into notepad and saved as an HTML.

But when i sent the email out from our new email program, the whole darn thing was justified left.

any clues?

Yes, FP doesn't generate HTML, it generates HTMicrosoftL and other stuff. If you've used anything that needs the FPSEs to work then forget it.

When you copy and paste the text although it looks OK, you've got some formatting code in there.

You also need to use "old" HTML commands some like the deprecated font tag for example to make sure that all those email programs can read it. Creating HTML Emails might help a bit more.

Glad you liked it. I also just sent you a PM as well and I am hoping that you get it. (I cannot remember if PMs from here show my name or OutFront's and I think you might have a whitelist)

Do you know of any software that operates like my beloved Front Page, only generates HTML emails? I am too lazy/dumb to design an email page from scratch.

I'm still waiting for the confirmation from the HTML email forum, btw, but did put the email address in my book.

thank you!

Well there are a lot of WYSIWYG editors. I use Expression Web now. It will generate the HTML for you but it helps to know / understand some HTML. There is also Dreamweaver and NVU.

(You are registered there now as well - so no confirmation email should be sent out. One was but it was returned.)
