F'LASH help - 4/3/2007 9:01:43
Hi. I have this flash file with 8 images and I'd like to make it 25 images.
I don't know what I'm doing. I downloaded Macromedia Flash Pro (free trial) but it's over my head.
imagechanger.fla
Any suggestions?
Thanks. Pat

I'm afraid this is one of those areas where you learn why the Flash developers earn so much money.

Unlike web development where there are tools that just allow people to press buttons and end up with what looks for all the world like a web site even though the backend is a disaster, Flash you have to learn and learn properly if you want something decent coming out the other end.

There are no shortcuts with this one. Flash has a built in tutorial, if you can get to grips with that it'll help. Otherwise it's a case of paying someone who knows what they're doing.

I played with Flash on may occasions, I can just about get a basic movie out of it but I'd never take on a Flash commission.

If you just want to make a slideshow that shouldn't be to hard and can also accomplish with an animated GIF.

I bought this template:
http://allwebco-templates.com/templates/samples/a07IOB.htm
and I want to "add" more images to the main page photo flash "image changer."
Right now only allows 8 images.
I would like 25 images.
In the flash folder, there is a file: imagechanger.fla
that you can edit in Flash, but I don't know how.
I thought this would be easy. Not.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This template is done with java utilizing the flash file. You can do the same and much easier with the JAlbum program. Just drop in your images and let the program do the rest. And most of all..... it's free.:)

JAlbum

The program has many templates. You can make your own design or use one of theirs.

Thank you.
Question? What is easier?

1. Adding more images to my existing FLASH .fla file using MACROMEDIA PRO? (which I don't know how to use)
or
2. Adding images by using JAlbum (which I don't know how to use either).

I am using frontpage and the template mentioned above.

Thanks.

Hi Pat, you can't use JAlbum to edit the template you have now. It's simply a different software for creating albums. Have you looked at the allwebcos help page? It appears that you shouldn't have to use any more than a text / html editor to modify things. If you look here (scroll down to "Adding a new row of images...) it tells you how to add images to your gallery page.
Perhaps that's of some use???

Ahhh a template. Yes Mikes right, they will have instructions telling you how to change pretty much anything. Usually, those are just a case of adding more image tags.

Ok. I know how to change and add images to the gallery pages. That's easy.

I just want to add "more" images to the FLASH image changer on the front/index page.
It has 8 images and I want more. It is a .fla file.

Anyone want to do this for me? I'd appreciate it.
Pat

You are quite right Pat, seems it's the only (???) thing you can't do simply. Wish I could help but I've no Macromedia products. :)
