You can still use FP with FTP and Filezilla, you just can't have FP specials like forms and navigation. I have used FP with Filezilla and it works fine, you just have to remember where all your files and folders are located. :)

That's what I do with my other website since my mothers server can't handle front page. We never did figure out why. In fact that's why I came to Thomas for help a couple years ago and moved my site here.

I'm going to put a pic here for a test then block this forum temporarily to see what happens OK.

I'd block it permanently, there are some very odd people on here. :)

Well I must be close. The picture is gone but there is a smiley face instead of the picture it should have been redirected to.

Any ideas?

Yep, I got the same thing recently when I accidentally blocked this forum. Not sure what causes that, must be htaccess.

If you want them to see the "stolen" image then you have to give the board access to the folder they're hotlinking to and replace all those images with the "stolen" one.

Not sure about the redirect, I've used PHP to block mine. It may be that you have to redirect to a page containing the image. Don't have time to check it out right now.

Oh, DUH! I can't believe I didn't think about that! It's in the same folder as the rest that are blocked. I'll mve it to my other server and redirect it.

I see it - at the very bottom. for whatever reason I thought it was more towards the top. You would at least think that when someone gripes about a product or service, they would put it at the top.

RRR - consider blocking my site as well for a test to see if it works on the page I created for a test as well.

I will as soon as I figure something else out. I need to have the redirects turned on I think on my site because it isn't working.

I am surprised your host does not support it. But .htaccess Tutorial - Protect Images might help as well.

Usually when people start to complain about you, you know you have hit the big time. Look at Paypal - they even went out and got a domain name just to complain how "bad" Paypal is. It sounds like you have just really hit the big time now - enjoy it some as well :)

BTW, I sent you an email on some people to complain to as well.

Thanks a lot for all your help. I think my server does support this, I'm just doing something wrong is all. I'm figuring it out.

That guy doing all the complaining about me really is off his rocker though. I hope you don't see any truth in it.
I just got off the phone with a customer that posted a big nice long comment about a couple rifles I built for him on there.

It was immediately deleted and the site owner called him at home to B***h about it. He said on the phone that he doesn't want to see anything positive about me.

He says on the forum that if you don't have personal experience then don't say anything at all.
Slightly different wording but everyone knows what he means.
Don't say anything unless it's bad.

What a sad bunch of t*****s indeed.

RRR - you're doing all the right things - stopping the hotlinking and banning his IP from your site, getting his host details, and as Corey says, a C&D letter wouldn't go amiss. The best thing you can do now, though it's hard, is to ignore him. If he sees his antics aren't having any effect on you, he'll soon get tired of his little games. Idiots like him thrive on getting a reaction, and if you don't give him one, hopefully he'll soon lose interest. It's difficult if it's affecting your business, and if all else fails, it may be that your only recourse is legal action.

On the forms issue - there are plenty of form scripts out there - if you're on a *nix server you'll need a PHP one. The best one in terms of security and spam-proofing is Mike Cherim's secure and accessible contact form, but you do need to know a little code to install it. In the past I've also used Dynamform, which is very easy to set up and is $30 for commercial usage. You'll find plenty of form scripts though with a quick google, and though some are more spam-proof than others, all are more secure than FP's basic forms.

I appreciate everyone's help and understanding in all this. It's good to have people around that are nice again. I almost swore off the net altogether over this mess.

I have a long list of IP's that I just received from a friend via EMAIL that I have to ban tonight. Over 100 of them from his home and known spoof accounts. A few are admin and other vendors on his site that I don't want to associate with any more too.

I'll have to work on that tonight though. Too much work to do for good customers right now.

Off the topic, did ya'll hear the news about some nut in Virginia? Makes even someone like me want to support gun control.

No not heard that but if you Google for Kathy Sierra you'll see exactly what sort of scum are populating the web these days.

Yep, I saw the news item about the shooting in Virginia and I hope that state takes heed of the control introduced in the UK following our own school shooting in Dunblaine.

RRR you can also run Mike Cherim's excellent form on a Windows server if they have PHP installed, I am a PHP novice and got it working OK following the instructions that come with the download.
