I was seduced by the sleek lines of the Ipod and have put my music collection on Itunes and am delighted with the results - it has revolutionised my muic listening.
My 7000 tracks are all at 96kbps in apples AAC format. How I wished I had ripped them as something more transferable
I now have a fancy MP3/ WMA player in my car and would like a CD with lots of tracks on.
AAC's are of course no use here.
If I convert all my AAC music to MP3 at say 128kbps will that work for me.
My concerns are:
1 That the AAC 96kbps will have lost some quality from the original CDs and that converting them again to MP3 will lose some more. To the extent that the loss will be noticable. (my collection ranges through pretty much ever genre imaginable)
2 Once compressed the quality is lost and can not be recovered by uncompressing ( so there is little point in going for a higher bit rate in conversion).
Sorry this sounds like gobbledook but my knowledge about digital music compression is pretty basic as you may have guessed.
