Starhugger -> Online order form with Paypal (4/19/2007 13:26:20)

I need to create a page that will allow users to order a report online. I will accept payments through Paypal. Paypal online purchase buttons do provide for extra information to be sent along with the order, but the problem is that there is a lot of information I will need and it's more variables than Paypal allows.

I could create an online form that would guide the user to give me the information I need, but then it becomes two processes that the user must go through -- entering the required information AND submitting the payment to Paypal.

I suppose I could just create a 2-part purchase process, where submitting the information on page-1 would lead to page-2 with the Paypal button. But I'm wondering if there's a way I can do both with one click of a button?

I imagine Javascript might do something like this, but I'd rather avoid it since I don't know enough about it to create a script for it.

Any ideas? Thanks! [:)]

I think you're either going to have to look at Javascript or, more probably, a third party cart that will integrate with PP and will do the fancy extra stuff. I don't suppose something like Mals ecommerce or Roman Cart would help?

I think ECommerce templates cart is around $100 US. It supoprts Pay Pal (I have it in use on a site of mine). Great support forums and the owners are on it a lot also with help. Their link is on the left hand side of the forum pages.

Easiest cart I ever setup [:)].

Take care,

Brian

Thanks for the suggestions, Tail and Reflect! Free is definitely the way for me to go at the moment, so Mal's ecommerce and Roman Cart look like good possibilities. I'll look into them more. $100 in any currency is beyond my budget at the moment [:o] so a template purchase is out for now.

Thanks much for the tips!

Can you not utilize the transaction return page from paypal? Just designate that the return page (after the payment) is sent to whatever URL your info form is at....

just a thought!
best of luck...

Hi Tera,

Yes, I could, but it would still mean a two-part process for customers, and I think it will be easier for them if I can arrange it so that they only click one button once. I just want to make it drop-dead easy for them. I'm looking into Mal's ecommerce right now and so far it seems that I should be able to do it, but I've only begun to play with it and haven't got to the point of actually testing it yet. I'll let y'all know! [:)]
