Can't access webpage using server name

I'm having a two problems and I think they are related. So I'll just ask the first one. I am unable to access my web pages using the server name. I can use localhost, or the IP address, but not the servername. I can't see anything wrong, I have even specifically added the IP address/servername combination to the hosts file with no effect. I'm using IIS 6. Can anyone suggest where I should look?[:-]
