Other languages and special characters - 5/10/2007 4:06:50
I've just switched from FP to DW so it's completely new to me.
In FP, when I create a page in Danish - which has some funny special characters, somewhat like German - I set it in the options.
What do I do in DW, if anything? My page looks fine in design view and in browser preview, but when I look into the code, all special characters are coded with html codes such as &.o.s.l.a.s.h; (without the dots which I added in this post so that you could see the code). Is that the way it's supposed to be, or does it mean that I should set language to "da" or character set to ISO something maybe or?

Thanks -

Halina

I'd try to ensure it's using UTF-8 character encoding and also the appropriate language information for the language concerned.

This worked - it looks right now.

Thanks!

Interesting...

After I've uploaded a page with UTF-8 the characters looked all wrong in my browser (even if they looked right in browser preview offline!)

So, at least until someone enlightens me on this, I changed it back to charset=windows-1252 (and the funny looking code...) and now it looks right online too...

:)

You might want to give charset=ISO-8859-1 a go and see if that works - (I've got a natural suspicion of using anything specific to windows!).
