I feel like I need to sit at the kids table, but maybe you guys could give some pointers.

I'm only in the beginning stages of creating a site for our group. I know that not everything is up and running yet, but if there is anything that needs fixing... Now is better than later.

Thanks.

You did a great job. However, for some reason that font does not render well on FireFox. You might try to look at it with FireFox and experiment with a different font. I think you used Tahoma and it should render but something is causing it to look funny in FireFox. Maybe it is just my version of FF so you need to look at it.

I use FF almost exclusively, and I haven't seen any problems with the font. What is the problem you are seeing?

Hi

I think the font looks ok - not brilliant but ok. I think that what TTR is referring to is that in FF with font-smoothing switched off in Windows Tahoma at that particular font size looks a bit skinny and pale. It looks ok in IE7 probably because font-smoothing is switched on by default in that browser.

I like Tahoma personally but I find that it tends to only look good either small or very large - in normal body text sizes it does look a bit, I dunno - underfed? Verdana or Arial might be better.

As far as the site goes in my opinion it's an excellent resource however I think that given the subject matter you really should have more images there - it must be a beautiful place and I'd have loved to see lots of pretty pictures!

Other thing - and this might sound odd, but I'd have a bit more of an explanation about the park in the opening paragraph for instance exactly where it is. It sounded American to me but I had no idea where in America it was. The site seems to be aimed at people who are involved with the park anyway but it'd be nice for people who come across the site who aren't as familiar with the park.

You seem to be relying on adding in non-breaking spaces to add padding to bits of text - this is generally a bad idea as it's unnecessary markup but also because it can be unpredictable and if I remember rightly those characters can become visible in some browsers. The cases that you're using it in look to me like lists so that's what I'd use - <ul>s. You can style them how you like to remove the bullet points and change the indentation etc.

The only other thing I'd say is that some of the categories in the menu are collapsed and some aren't. I'd stick to one or the other. It looks like they should all be collapsed so I'd probably do that (add in <div class="collapsed"> above the items to collapse I think).

In general though if this is your first effort I have to say that it's pretty good!

Yes, that is exactly how that font looks in my browsers. (FireFox and Netscape)

Thanks for the input, I've already started to make changes.

In fact, I always wondered how to make the menu begun as collapsed. You might have noticed that I got it from Dynamic Drive (I couldn't come up with that stuff). Let's see if it works, it set to remember your place (cookies) for the next time you arrive I think.

Never new there was an issue with the font, I've changed over to Arial.

Well, thanks again.

Send In You're Pictures!

should be

Send In Your Pictures!

Thanks for the typo notice!

And as far as content/pictures, the group is still getting me content. Hopefully, the site will have many pretty pictures and useful info soon.

Thanks
