Animated .gif - file size? - 11/13/2001 23:57:00
Any tips for making simple animations with the Microsoft GIF Animator? I've been able to create some simple animations that work fairly well, however the file size is way too big.

Looking at some animations that are about the same level of complexity, they have file sizes of 10KB while I'm ending up with over 300.

I'm still working on it but was hoping someone might have some pointers.

Thanks,
Kim

Optimize each individual picture first, before trying to put it into animation. I have not used the program you mention, but they all work on the same principal I think.

The more frames in the animation the larger the file size. so starting with a file size as small as possible will help. File size of animated gifs is just one of the many problems with using them. I'll save other reasons for a different discussion.
