batya7 -> Updating All Pages Attached to DWT at same time possible? (6/4/2007 1:07:06)
|
I may be misunderstanding the function of a DWT. Perhaps someone can clarify. My website for a non-profit education center has a header, left column, and footer that I want to be common to all pages. The header and footer are pretty much static, but the left column changes as we update the programs offered by the place. For example, under the "Special Programs" heading, (at this writing) I'm listing a Family Picnic [June] and Golf Classic [August]. When the picnic is over, I'll delete this link and as new events occur add them on. I want these changes to show up on all of the content pages to which I've attached the DWT. http://kollelpgh.org (main page) http://kollelpgh.org/Personnel.html, for example, needs to have the left column replicated, as do all the other pages attached to the DWT and properly mapped to the Editable Content. I was under the impression that once I make changes in my DWT and save, the changes would be global. As it is, I must open each of the pages in my site, 10 so far, and do Format / Dynamic Web Template / Update Selected Page for each page! The Update All Pages and Update Attached Pages options are always grayed out! If I correct a typo or add a last minute event, I don't want to open all 10 pages and click click click one at a time. [&o] Also, when I create a new page, should I be doing it from the DWT itself (File / New / Create from DWT) or should I just Attach DWT to plain HTML? I watched "MSWebcast-Using Dynamic Web Templates and Master Pages.wmv" which I downloaded and the demo showed both methods but didn't indicate preference. Thanks, and a big smile to anyone who can help detangle my confusion. [:D] Batya
