Localhost IIS and PHP - 6/11/2007 20:32:42
I'm trying to install PHP on IIS on Vista Business. I've followed different things I've found on the Internet, and hacked around trying other things, but I'm not having much luck. I was able to get it installed and working on my XP system, but that isn't helping at all for Vista.

Has anyone had any real luck installing PHP on Vista, and have instructions that work? Or any hints that you may have ran into that got you going?

I'm even trying to set the mime type (not sure what to set it to for the extension php) but all I can do is either have the actual page text/source display or make it so it wants to save the page. I just want to run it!

Sheesh, always seems to happen. I worked hours trying to get darn PHP running. So, I post, then continue to look around and.... bingo... got it working. What a hassle though. Ugh.

There were lots of different things I tried on the way to success but this is the final that got me over the hill:

Besides just installing PHP, and other little tweaks (seems like all over the place), I to opened up "Handler Mappings" in IIS and then "Add Script Map", and then filled in with:
Request path: *.php
Executable: C:\inetpub\php-cgi.exe (where mine is located)
Name: PHP

Maybe this will save someone else some time...

Would this have been of any help, or is it just for XP?

Looks to be for XP. With Vista, it has IIS 6, but from what I've read you're supposed to be using IIS 7 which is included too(Why, and why both are on there I don't recall... I read way too many different things in doing all of the different configuring of my new system). So hey, I wouldn't have mind reading this too for even more ideas! :)
