Newbie's dilema - 6/20/2007 15:45:54
So I am a newbie's newbie (no surprise) and I just made an incredible booboo. I just created my first site with dreamweaver MX with most of my links being image links. Now I am ready to upload and I realize that my images are showing different sources. I created different folders for my pages and for various images and put the folders into one unit folder which I assumed would be my root folder. Ofcourse my main image folder is not showing in the root folder so I suppose that is a main problem. However, some of the images are also being pulled from other source folders. My code is showing different sources like <img src="file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/abby/Desktop/images/spacer.gif" and <img name="IleAbiye20html20220pg_r2_c1" src="../images/IleAbiye20html20220pg_r2_c1.jpg" I tried changing the source in the code manually which made some images appear but still others didn't work. When I try to save any changes, another page template is created. I get different error messages that say the local root folder doesn't exist or that the changes made are being done outside of the root folder, or that the folder has been moved. When I try to move the different images folders into the root folder where the pages are, all the images disapear. Did I mention that I seem to have lost my original template page since the page that I have ending in .dwt has broken paths other than my template pages which are currently un-editable (is that a word?)! Short of shooting myself I'm looking for help. So please any suggestions at this point are more than welcome!!!

Looks like you 1.have not defined your site in DW properly or 2.haven't defined it at all. Try watching this tutorial it should help. http://www.dreamweaverlearning.com/create-site.htm Regards! Rich
