Error Msg after Publish - 11/12/2001 15:44:00
I just registered and purchased my domain name this weekend. This morning I published my website using Frontpage 2000. However, when I go to my web address, I get the following error:
FILE NOT FOUND: THE REQUESTED URL WAS NOT FOUND ON THIS SERVER.

Does anyone know what this mean? Is there anythign I can do that does not involve contacting the host provider?

First: Has the domain propagated yet? You say you bought the domain over the weekend - it usually takes 24 - 72 hours for a domain to propagate (unless it's Network Solutions, then make that a week or more )

I received a response from my host provider. It said:

Make sure everything is linking up correctly. Seems that your pages
are not going to where you want them to go.

I have no idea what they are telling me!

Your website usually consists of many folders, but the www.nnnnn.nnn is only sent to one. Your index.html must go there. If it's Linux its usually a folder called /www. If its NT its /INETpub/wwwroot. The message Can't Find...means it has looked in the folder that www.nnn.nnn is told to go to and has found no index.html. Make sure you are uploading (saving, publishing) to the right place.

I want an avatar! can u tell i'm going for 100?

BTW Gil, NETSOL got it all sorted out. I just changed one last week and it took the longer side of the 72hours. It was 3 days I think.

hey, need a break? http://webpages.charter.net/cwind/SSGallery/
