i can take it... - 6/25/2007 12:30:33
...maybe. I did the 'photo holders' in pshop and put links to the slices/photos also in pshop (6). I then bring the html images into Frontpage and upload. The pages seem to take an age to load which i know can put impatient types off waiting so wonder if you can offer suggestions about the site's look as well as what i might be able to do to reduce load time? I muddle about in photoshop so it is very possible i'm not doing things correctly hence the slow loading.
Hopefully you won't tell me to start from scratch but you might. My web is here

Thanks

If you are going to be posting a lot of pictures, you may want to get a program to create the galleries.

I use Shozam (Business Edition) and found it a breeze to use. There is a useful forum there similar to this one.

You may want to view Mike's Gallery. He has one on Great Britain.

Your homepage is excruciatingly slow and there are hardly any images on it. The problem is you have a whole load of

<td align="center">
        <applet code="fphover.class" codebase="./" width="20" height="20">
          <param name="color" value="#000080">
          <param name="hovercolor" value="#0000FF">
          <param name="textcolor" value="#FFFFFF">
          <param name="effect" value="glow">
          <param name="image" valuetype="ref" value="grey001.gif">

          <param name="hoverimage" valuetype="ref" value="grey001green.gif">
          <param name="url" valuetype="ref" value="london7.htm">
        </applet>
      </td>

in there. Why? All it seems to be doing is putting those square blocks along the bottom and in Firefox they do nothing that I can see.

weird. There's nothing on the home page aside form the hover buttons on the bottom which oddly work for me in firefox - it's I.E. they don't seem to work in. It was the other pages which were the problem loading wise. Thanks for letting me know ALL pages meed a major overhaul :-)

Ah ha! In Firefox on the PC they work, Firefox on the Mac - absolutely nothing.

I should point out that even though they work in FF on the PC it's what is known as mystery meat navigation. There is nothing to tell you it's a nav bar, you have no idea where you're going, completely and utterly against all usability and accessibility rules.

You also have them at the bottom of each photo page. They are pointless and just take up more load time.
