Frequent "extensions" corruption - 6/26/2007 23:16:50
I've been going crazy with frequent "extension" corruptions of my site which requires re-installation of the extensions. I have a site which is centered around my photography service and as such I import many folders that contain the galleries of photos which are generated from a third party program I use from JAlbum. The problem seems to surface typically during or after large folder uploads. I use the "import" function to upload the gallery folders to my webhosting server. Currently, I'm awaiting the second consecutive re-installation today which takes around 6-8 hours to process. What I'd like to know is.....is the process of uploading large folders in and of itself promoting the corruption or is FrontPage just not intended for this type of operation? Folder size is typically around 400mb to 1gb. Folders contain individual html web pages with the thumbnails and full size .jpg's

I'd suspect that if the problem happens every time you use a third party app, that the third party app's using ftp to import, and ftp-ing will corrupt your extensions every time.

Welcome to Outfront btw! :)

I use JAlbum all the time and have never had a problem with corrupting the FPSE's. I do not however use the "import" function, I either work locally and "Publish" my changes or I work live and drag the new gallery folder into the FP/EW site.

New photogalleries, stop by sometime.

Thanks much. I'll try one of these methods you use......(after the latest extensions re-installation completes).
