Modifying a site - 6/29/2007 11:39:57
Hi guys

a doubt:

website with a PR of 2 in Yahoo and 3 in Google in its category needs revamping. Pretty much the same text will be left in place but a few Flash elements will be added. Most of the positioning itself will be respected. A few colors will be modified to make them more web friendly.

Question: is there a chance the site could suddenly drop since the code is being affected even though H1,H2 will be respected?

PS the site is not doing too good in reciprocal links. That is one area we will be tackling as well.

Where in the body will they appear? Will the navigation interface change in the slightest? Will any keyword phrase supporting text be manipulated?

Take care,

Brian

In our case, we revamped our entire site. Changed webmasters, servers, shopping cart pages. Even a lot of our URL's changed, though the domain remained the same. Like you, our text pretty much stayed the same, as did our headers, etc. I was SOOO nervous we'd fall off the face of the SE, but we never lost our ranking below the first page of Google and Yahoo for our major keywords. Good luck!
