IIS Index - 11/26/2001 20:50:00
Recently we've been losing access to our internal web server (Intranet) - i.e. "web server not found". The IT blokes said that the fix today was to turn off indexing. We are running IIS/5.0 with FP extensions 4.0.2.4426.1. Do we need indexing in order to run searchs from within FrontPage? 2. Is there a real fix for this recurring problem such as a patch from MS or ...? Regards Bill

That depends on server setup... See here... http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q205/6/18.ASPAND http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q203/7/96.ASP quote:

That really depends on what exactly the problem is. Without the error messages or server Event error ID's it impossible to say... Rian ------------------ "Designing The Future" SR Web Creators http://www.srwebcreators.com "What boots up must come down..."

1. How's the login going? The user must be logged in to the NT box for access to Frontpage.Must 2. You can also check the refresh rate on the indexer. Those kinda things use up a lot of system resources on an NT box. Maybe the system is so tied up indexing large structures that it denies service to other requests (time out)?
