updating index.master no longer updates all related web pages

updating index.master no longer updates all related web... - 7/7/2007 17:19:51
I built myself my very first aspx site using Expression Web. Nice application.
But I just noticed that when I apply updates to the index.master, these are no longer updating all the related web pages in the website.
I no longer get that dialog box asking me if I wish to apply changes to the related pages (6 pages in this particular website).
Anyone else had this happen? (and hopefully know how to fix?)

I assume you are using Master Pages (not dynamic web templates). Master pages don't display a dialog asking if you want to apply the changes because the pages are merged at runtime.

Hi and thanks for the reply to my post.
I am indeed using master pages - mine is called index.master, and I've created the other pages in this particular web from that master page.
Before I would make a change to the master and it would apply universally through to the rest of the pages created off that master page. But that no longer happens.
Is this is bug I've found or am I doing something screwy I wonder?

What happens if you use master.dwt (a dwt extension instead)?

When I attempt to create a new page from a DWT in expression web, the application crashes 100% of the time.
This is quite an unstable piece of software I've purchased here.

So if you go to file - save as and type in master.dwt, the program crashes? What if you are in a new website - out of this one that you have this .master file in

That's exactly right.
If I create a dwt page in a new website, I can create a new page off of that dwt page without the program crashing.

The .master file might be causing you problems then with the dwt file. I found some posts with VS 2005 and a .master extension. Is that why you are using a .master extension instead of .dwt extension?
