It's fine for me - maybe a cache issue?
BTW I always set the background colour on the body element so it shouldn't cause an issue.

well in my 'hacked' standalone version of ie7 and ie on vista at my boss's laptop and his wife's it looks like in my screenshot. strange. might have to strip the page down and see how it seems to be doing it. maybe i need to specify a height on one of the elements somewhere... will try a few things and see. not sure why it works on refresh though, but if it's like that on mine and couple of other machines then it could be like that for others quite easily too.
