Webroot Spysweeper 5.5 - 7/20/2007 15:37:29
Anyone besides me use this product? It saved me many moons ago and when they came out with a family package (3 machines for one price) I could not resist. I love Ad-Aware, but was never completely comfortable with a FREE piece of software.
Anyway, I upgraded my laptop to version 5.5 and the darn computer started to freeze after startup. It took awhile but I finally realized it was probably spysweeper so I started to close it after it starting computer and no problems. Gave them about three weeks to fix and it never got better so I have uninstalled it from laptop.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I will not upgrade the two desktops for fear of same issue with them. Back to Ad-Aware only on laptop... :(

Hi Nick,
I haven't used Webroot Spysweeper so i can't really comment on that.
I do however run several of the free spyware programs on a laptop without incident. Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster.

I just purchased their latest version the other day, and downloaded to my desktop with no problem. The only thing is, the program is pretty large, and my computer was way overloaded with music files, so the installation did slow my computer in general. I moved all my music files to an external hard drive, and all is well now. I actually find webroot to be even better then adaware, though i like them both.
