asp.NET login controls - 7/25/2007 7:35:17
I have a website in Expression that is published to a web server (hosting provider). If one wants to use the asp.NET login controls, it is essential that one can use the “Administer Website” command. However, the command is not available (The ASP.NET web site administration service is not supported). How to use it?
Web site administering works fine with a disk based website using Visual Web Developer Express edition and SQL server 2005, but how to administer a remote site (that you publish from your disk files to a remote server with Expression web)?

This book offers a great work around for this particular issue.

I got this book. The examples "creating a login solution" work very well, as well with asp.net development server as with Visual Web developer express edition.
However this seems to work only for a local web application. I can't figure out a way to manage these users/roles against a remote server (for example: an application running on a remote hoster). Just uploading the necessary files -including the App_Data folder does not work on my remote hoster (which does support .NET framework 2 with Windows SQL server).

Thanks for this link. I tried it before. However, the linked articles seem to be gone.
