fhenkel -> SQL Service not auto starting. (7/25/2007 15:07:35)
I've just rebuilt my Server 2003 and everything is working great except that after a reboot the SQL Service Manager does not auto-start the service? If I type in the servername\sharepoint it then lists SQL and click refresh it loads and runs fine. What am I missing?

Is it enabled as automatic in the services?

Hi Spooky, yes it is set to automatic. Right now it is running if I'm looking at the correct one, it is MSSQL$SHAREPOINT, correct?

Ok, I had to reboot the machine for a MS update and it comes up stating that one service or driver failed to load. I logged in and the SQLAgent$SHAREPOINT is set to automatic but is not started. I opened the SQL Service Manager and again entered the servername\SHAREPOINT in the Server box and then click refresh. It then shows SQLServer in the Services box and starts and the AutoStart box is checked.

Well after some digging I did a Start, Run of the SVCNETCN.exe and found that both "Named Pipes and TCP/IP" were not enabled. I enabled them both and now the SQL Server starts up fine and the Manager lists the services.
I'm still getting a message that "A Service or Driver did not run" when I hit the login screen. I've looked in the Event Log but nothing stands out? Is there a way to pin point where the error is from?
