Can't Open Local Web With FrontPage 2000 - 7/27/2007 23:40:50
Anyone help me out here? A couple of days ago I found I couldn't open one of my webs on my computer. I am using FrontPage 2000. I get message after it fails to open that says: "Ran out of memory while trying to allocate 0 bytes" (even after I've restarted the computer first and had only FrontPage running) There are currently 4 other webs on my pc but only this one I'm having a problem with. All the others open just fine. The web folder of the web I'm having trouble with is about 270mbs and FrontPage opened it just fine till a couple of days ago Oh, also, my Windows Task Manager shows that Frontpage is using an enormous about of memory as it trys to open the troubled web. Any ideas?

wanted to add: when opening one web I have no problems with, I seen on the Windows Task Master that memory usage is 9,164k. When I try to open the web I'm having problems with memory runs at 1,536,125 and CPU usage stays at 100% till I get the 'Out Of Memory' message. Just thought this might help someone give me an answer

Maybe time for a defrag?

I have a registry cleaner on my PC. You need to know, this issue cropped up sudddenly. It wasn't like there was a gradual slowing and then it started. I have removed and cleaned out the registy of my FrontPage and then reinstalled it, it did the same thing. It doesn't matter whether I try to open up one single file or the whole web, the same thing happens. I have even went to the web, opened an HTML file in my browser and then clicked on 'Edit With Microsoft Frontpage' and the same thing happens, even just opening up one file

Did you try to do a restore? Pick a point that was prior to your problem. It does sound like some FP file is corrupted. You could also try publishing that web down from the server to your computer. I would put in in a directory on your computer that is separate from your corrupted web. Also I recommend that you upgrade to FP 2003. (If you can still find it out there) Its not as buggy as FP 2000.

It is sounding like a FP type corruption. You may want to try a FrontPage cleaner type program: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm Not sure if it will help or not, but may be worth a try. Otherwise, 270MB seems pretty big and I'm wondering if FP is beginning to just choke (unless it is lots of big images, and not thousands of pages). I'm assuming all 270MB are needed files for the web?
