Vector graphic help - 7/30/2007 18:04:30
Hello all,

My friend's Karate website went belly up and i'm trying to help him rebuild his site...

They would like to continue to use this logo but there's no vector file of it and it would be nice to be able to have it in different sizes.

Can anyone help in making this a vector?

THANKS!!

have you got anything bigger?? the original clipart of the flying-kick guy? the names of the fonts? you could trace the guy/logo in a vector application (at least one with a pen tool) but it's going to be hard to recreate the blokie ;)

what graphics applications do you have?

Hello David,

Attached was the largest image they found thus far.

I've got FP and an older version of PhotoShop which i'm still learning <sigh>

Let me know how much better this logo size is and if it's salvageable. I'm sure through 'trial & error' I could try to find out what the name of the font is?

Any assistance would be immensely appreciated.

Cheers,
Sheldon.

you could reset the text in photoshop - though i looked on http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ and didn't get a match

so i would draw the bmi partt with the pen tool and the karate text as it's not too complicated (though the pen tool kind of sucks in PS compared to a proper vector application like Freehand, illustrator or fireworks) and then try - and this is the tricky part - to redraw the flying kick bloke, but i would be tempted to just search for some similar clipart, as that original is too small and blocky to recreate easily.

or if you give me half an hour i can see what i can do this evening ;)

i'm this far in fireworks at the moment so i'll carry on in photoshop - i have version 6 what version do you have?

ok this is the finished ps6 version - all the layers are linked so you can just use the transform tool to resize everything in one go!

the flying kick man is a bit different but without a good original it's difficult to recreate so well ;)

oh yeah the link :)

Hello Dave,

Wow! That looks really good. What an excellent job given what you had to work with!!!

A BIG thanks!! I know my buddy will be happy that we're helping him salvage what he can to start his plan to rebuild.

Cheers,
Sheldon.
