Just saw this in CPU Power User magizine (Sep 2007): A free open source local Web server to test web page development with PHP and MySQL. Can be installed and run from a flash drive. www.uniformserver.com

What's the difference between this application and just downloading WAMP or XAMP or whatever? Is it lighter weight or some other advantage?

It is also just as easy to install php, mysql, apache and perl on your pc as a server. If I can do it, anyone can. It, IMO is better to do it this way as you learn a bit more about installation problems along the way and problem resolution. You can always go with one of the previous mentioned programs, but are you really learning as you go? [;)]

Also runs from a flash drive so you can have a full blown server with you wherever you are.

Hmmmmm This all sounds quite interesting. I really like the idea of a portable server for demo purposes.
