Managing file on web site - 8/11/2007 13:17:55
Long since I've been here, but have upgraded to Vista and had to move my FP2003 over to the new box. At any rate, I need to publish down from the live site to my box to begin to manage my sites... how do I control which directories are managed, and which are not?

For instance, I'm running PHPBB on the sites, and don't want FP2003 to manage those directories, but leave them alone. Along a related line, I've had occasions here FP2003 seems to want to manage a particular file over and over, like wanting to overwrite from local to the live site. I let that action occur, but it would still ask each time. Any ideas or reading material I can read to understand file management a bit better? Thanks :)

Usually I just let FP publish everything from the server to local computer. Now the meta data should handle everything. Since some files might change from time to time on the server, you can synchronize all the files every time.

I usually sync before starting to work on some of our sites that I know my business partner or developer might work on from time to time. You might be able to right click on the folder and say do not publish (on the server). If not, try to sign onto the server and then right click on the folder / files and choose not to publish via right click
