Javascript, ASP & Database Resources - 8/30/2007 9:48:57
Sadly, my friend & co-worker, Jonah, was killed in a tragic car accident this past Saturday. Creative, Intelligent, Good-natured, quick-witted & kind are just a few of the qualities that he posessed and I will miss him immensely.

From a selfish standpoint, I will also miss him because at over 10 years his senior, this mother-of-four and part-time website manager was learning so much from him. In fact, he was about 95% done with a new version of our website that databased all of our products, descriptions, pricing tables, included a new "partner login", search function, and many other attributes that he hand-coded & designed himself.

The week before he died, we spent some time going over the database and how to add/change products - and I'm comfortable with doing that. Where I'm a bit at a loss is the javascript & asp functionality. My plan is to hire a local designer that can finish that last 5% of the code for e-mail, form scripts, etc., so that we can get it up and running in his honor, but I'd also like to become well versed in javascript, asp & SQL myself so that I can add to his site in the future.

I would appreciate hearing about the paths you took to learn these subjects and your recommendations for getting up to speed on these subjects as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,
Laurie

P.S. You can check out the site he designed at: www.magnetics.com/beta
