By the way, it isn't really 3 in the morning where you are when you type these responses is it? As I type this it is 11 am here, but I think it's probably 4 pm where you are. For all I know these show in local times. Do they?

On here? It's shown in local time. You typed your last response at 1607 according to my settings. I'm typing this at 1645.

I think Javascript validation is very useful and use it myself but without it I revert to server-side validation - that way you get the best of both worlds.

Most blogs that I've looked at have the comments posted at the server time so I wouldn't worry too much if it's proving to be a nightmare to sort out.

I figured that part out. On my profile there is a time offset. They require javascript be enabled when you apply to be a member, so they must capture your offset and adjust it to an offset from them when you register and use that to show posts in your own time zone. Since I'm in the same time zone I got an offset of 0, but I wonder how it takes account of dst in other locales. In Arizona there is no dst so they would see the correct time part of the year and be an hour off part of the year, and other countries set dst at different dates, so they'll be out of sync at some points I would think. Not really worth worrying about, just thought it was an interesting exercise.
