Ooh ooh I found another nice free(ish) HTML editor!

It's called Araneae and it's veeerrry nice.

I've been using HTML-Kit and PSPad but frankly there's just too much stuff there getting in my way - I only use about 10% of their features and some of the stuff like automated word completion was really irritating (I know I could probably turn it off but I couldn't be arsed to go searching in the massive options lists).

Araneae is a simpler editor - it's got tabs for multiple pages, syntax highlighting, line numbering and various shortcuts for adding tags and images etc. But that's it - perfect! No distractions - just enough to be useful without getting in the way. It's a step up from Notepad2 and a nicer UI than NoteTab Light which is probably the closest to it I've seen.

It's free for non-commercial use and - get this - I've actually given a small donation so that I can use it commercially with peace of mind. Yes you read it here first - I actually paid money for software - that doesn't happen often.

Yes it's good, I have used it off and on for quite some time now.

W...w....w....what!!!??? [sm=yikes.gif] Tail's actually paid for something? [:o]
Jeez! It must be good - I guess I'd better take a look at it. [:D]

I've been using HTML-Kit for about a year now, and I have to say, like Tail, I've found I don't use half the stuff, but when I do want to use stuff I can never find it easily and spend more time hunting around for the "shortcuts" than it would probably take to just type the damned thing, and I've been thinking I need to find something that isn't quite so complicated.
