Sitemaps and Dynamic Keywords - 9/26/2007 9:52:32
Hi, I have a news website which has a sitemap for the news articles. There is a main news front page. this page contains a list of todays articles, whichyou can click on and go to that article. All articles have keyword Metatags Do the Metatag keywords on this main front page need to change to reflect the changing content each day, and if so what are the rules for those keywords Many thanks Helen

I would update the (meta tag) keywords to reflect the keywords of that page

Thanks The question is this... If each article has on average 10 keywords in the Meta tag for that article and the newspage has 10 articles How many of these can I use, are the rules different for a newspage, so can I use all 10 for each article, that would be around a hundred keywords If I assembled the keywords on this Main news page in Time date order, so the newest ones were first, would there be a natural truncation of keywords beyond a certain point, or would the whole lot be junked if they were too long. It is just hard to find the rules for News Websites as opposed to normal websites when it comes to these keywording aspects Sorry to be so fussy Helen

I rely on Search Engine Optimization for Site Owners and Small Businesses for some advice. Since you said news, I am guessing that the news gets updated regularly. If so, each page of the news would have its own keywords - personally I would pick ones that might be well targeted for that web page. Most SEs don't look at the keywords since people abused them way back when. Personally, if I am going to use keywords, I would use keywords that describe that page that you are on

Hi, Thanks Are you also saying that "keywords are irrelevant" I'm using the rule that a keyword must be included in the article at least 4 times for validity, is that still a wise choice, I am only interested in Yahoo, Google news at present where most of my traffic comes from.
