Question About Expression - 10/3/2007 15:57:44
Hello,

I was interested in building a website in which people have to register and pay to have access to the content...Does Microsoft Expression have this type of capability ?

Any help would be fabulous... :-)

Expression Web is a program that helps you to develop websites. Frontpage came with FPSE that allowed web developers to do much more without knowing a bit of code.

Expression Web thinks you should know code though to develop a website. To develop a website that requires users to log in will require a database (MSSQL, mysql, or MS Access) and a server side language (ASP, .NET, PHP) to communicate with that database.

And then depending on your location, you might want to consider a merchant account with an electronic payment gateway (LinkPoint, Payflow, Authorize.net/Cybersource) or an Internet Payment Service Provider (IPSP) (i.e. some versions of Paypal, 2CO).

Hey Corey,

Thanks a bunch....

My current websites are hosted by Go Daddy and they offer all of the stuff (MSSQL, mysql, or MS Access) that you mentioned....So you answered my question...

I currenty am using FP 98, but I want to make a more advanced site and Expression is very similar which is why I'd like to buy it....

No all I have to do is try to figure out how to use MSSQL, mysql, or MS Access ?//

EW doesn't play nice with PHP so if you intend to use PHP and it's usual partner MySQL then I'd suggest looking for another piece of software.
