Expression Template .dwt Newbie Question No Flame PLZ - 10/4/2007 22:01:10
Hello everyone, I have followed these forums for a while great stuff. Now let me get down the business. I have a problem in expression web that is making me bang my head against the wall. I have scoured forums and books and cannot get an explanation that will help me. ok.... When using one of the stock website templates in Expression I cannot seem to alter the stock image that is provided. I have no problem with text, links, etc. But I have no idea how to insert my own image into the master.dwt. So, any ideas about how to get rid of the stock template picture and insert my own??? Thanks, Cheers and keep on with the good stuff in this forum. Mavthrill

First of all, you do not normally insert images in the master.dwt except a banner or an image you want to appear in every page. To insert images in other pages like, Home, Services, Company, etc, click the stock image that came with the template. See the dimensions. Make your own image similar in size. Then copy and paste your own image over the stock image. You can also insert images anywhere in the page. Try to create an image edit page. You can call it imagedit.htm. This is the page where you tinker with your images before you copy and paste in your web page. I hope this helps.

obialor, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Couple points that I am stumbling on since switching to expression... I am not having any trouble with the images that are specific to each individual page, it the .dwt stock image. 1. When I try and switch it from one of my many individual pages it has the "stop" sign over it and I can not edit it. This leads me to believe that it must be changed from the .dwt page. And I can not figure out how to do this. Again, thanks for bearing with the newb questions.

I understand now what your problem is. The simplest solution is for you to go to EW Help menu and type - Dynamic Web Template. In a few minutes, you will learn eveything you need to know on the Master.dwt and how to use it. It is very simple. Obi

The EW Templates are in the following categories Organization, Personal and Small Business. Each category is numbered. If you tell me which template you use, I may be able to tell you how to modify the image. I opened the attached file but it did not help much. Obi

Mav, Open the Image folder of the website. You will see the file "leftphoto.jpp." This is the file you need to replace. Rename the image you want to use to replace it "leftphoto.jpg" and import it into the image folder. That will do the trick. Obi
