Dear experts

im working on the site mentioned below...please view...(site under construction)

www.nhc.gov.mv/beta/index.html

im having trouble with a background shadow effect i want on the site...
no problem viewing in FF but in IE 6 its doesnt work... [:(]

im using .png images for this, and a repeating image for my bg
...tested in FF 2 and IE 7...my downfall..hehe
im using a mix of css and tables for my layout but mostly tables...(css newbie)..

could you please help me with this problem...
applying a div around the tables or anything...

thanks in advance

P.S. site design and layout, constructive critique is welcome [:)]

If it's not working in IE6, and the image you're using is a PNG, then it's probably due to the fact that IE6 doesn't support transparent PNGs. You could try this IE PNG Fix. There's also this Javascript based fix (I use this one on a couple of my sites) for IE5.5 and IE6 (IE7 has fixed the problem).

You could use Tredosoft's multiple IE standalone application form here. http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE

Does the background image has to be png format? If it is shadow(greyscale), why not try saving the image as gif. You'll have no problem, maybe poorer image quality.

Yes I understand your problem. I have the same problem too.

My background image has colors so will not look good if saved in .gif format. Therefore I need the .png format.

But yours is a shadow, black color, so qualifies for a gif transparent format.
