Move Site From Windows Based to Linux - 10/8/2007 20:42:08
My web is hosted by Go Daddy on a windows server. I want to move it to a Linux account (with Go Daddy) so I can install Awstats. Are there potential problems associated with this move? Thanks.

Why cant you install awstats on your windows server? If awstats works in linux, it should work on a windows server too. Your web host should help you with the transition if you still decide to move.

Awstats says that I need Perl, CGI & log access. Go Daddy says I need to be on a Deluxe or Premium Linux account to have the support of Perl & CGI. Would another host possible have access to Perl & CGI on a windows account? I'm not familiar with any of this. Someone else is going to do the Awstats install. Thanks.

Just a suggestion. Have you thought about using Google Analytics its free and does just about everything.
