Using boxes instead of tables - 10/12/2007 8:50:34
My current website design is based on a table split into numerous cells, which is easy to do but limiting in terms of design.

On one page of an old website I added a couple of separate text/image boxes, but one of my visitors reported that these were scattered all over the place.

I'm trying to re-design my homepage using an array of small text boxes containing links to other pages (as text), plus at least one image imported into a picture box - this hyperlinks to a sponsor's website. I've also copied over the hit counter. Interestingly, in preview mode the URL of the hit counter provider shows, but not that of the offsite sponsor (although the cursor acknowledges that a link exists).

Needless to say, this will replace my current index.html page so I don't want to commit it yet. So, the question:

Is FrontPage reasonably well-behaved if a page is designed using these "floating" boxes, or am I asking for trouble in terms of display / hyperlinks etc?

If you give us a url for the existing site maybe we could tell how much work would be needed.

Hi Caz

The website is www.ukpuzzle.com but the homepage as you'll see it is very different to what I have in mind. With your permission I can send you a screen grab of the new design with a few notes about what the elements are.
