Ok so heres my dilema - I have done many sites in frontpage but most have been hosted on my server, whats the easiest way to create a site in EW and hand it over to the customer to make changes to content add photos etc. -

Do they understand and know XHTML and / or understand how to edit the website using a WYSIWYG editor?

Or are you asking about zipping the site? I have Moving a Site to a New Computer and Publishing From Remote Server to Local Computer that might be helpful.

Ok so heres my situation - I am doing a website right now for a customer who is going to have a photo gallery as well as information on the site about her business - she wants to be able to add photos as she gets them as well as change the content once the sites finalized, but she also mentioned possibly paying me a maintence fee to just make the changes and add the photos later. I have a friend who uses JOomla! and suggested me doing a joomla site so the customer has access to make easy changes - however I've never done a Joomla! site, so I dont know. Just thinking of what to do in the case she wants to make changes later without help.

I have not used Joomla myself (I think it is PHP).

There are thousands of photo album scripts out there that you could use. I use one on one of my sites as well. I would look at one of them for that - but you would first need to determine ASP, .NET, PHP and what type of database (MS Access, mysql, MSSQL).

As far as updating the site herself, you did not state if the customer knew XHTML or how to use a WYSIWYG editor. Assuming she does not, then probably a CMS would be best. Content Seed is one CMS application, there are thousands of others. But it goes back to the server side language as well.

I think the responses of Bryant and your friend are to the point. The only easy way your customer can make changes on her website is for you to do a CMS - Content Management System site. Joomla is a good one. I use Joomla myself. The learning curve is fairly long. It is so unlike a web editor. But if you choose to do the website on EW. Your customer must have EW installed and know how to use it. Not an easy proposition for many customers.
