powersitedesign -> RE: How to sell my internet business (10/29/2007 12:21:03)

zmurfin, your post peaked my interest. i have to agree w/ tailslide, sitepoint has produced a few good articles related to what you are considering, as well as vitamin. you might want to go out and check those two sites for ideas as to pricing / value / marketing your business. I also wanted to provide you with some things that as a potential buyer (i am likely not interested since it's .net and i am primarily .php/mysql but some others on here might be), I would be looking for... 1. recurring income: does your software / site / business have a good recurring income model? are your customers on recurring subscriptions, is it a one time purchase, annual subscription, etc. 2. annual income: as a prospective buyer i would also be interested in seeing your past few years numbers. 3. customer base: what is your current customer base? also would like to see some numbers over time, example: how many customers last year -vs- this year, etc. so i could get an idea as to your current growth rate. 4. seo: when was your site registered, what is your current position for keywords, how much traffic do you see? what are your referrers, etc. I am sure that there are some other things that might be good for a perspective buyer to check out that i have forgotten. As a method to find a buyer for the site you might need to do a little research, but I met a few people at conferences, etc. that handle purchases and buyouts for sites, you could probably google a few that could help. Just for the sake of stirring up a little interest would you post a link to your business on here? (if that's okay w/ the site moderators?, i think that i have seen it done before)... Good luck in your future endeavors and the sale of your company.
