Password to modify issues - 11/1/2007 9:17:28
Hello,
I have a page that contains links to documents on a network drive. These documents are password protected so that you need to enter the password to modify them otherwise you must open them as read only. The message box asking for the password will pop up if you go through the network folder. It does not pop up when you open the document by clicking on the link. You are able to modify the document and save the changes which defeats the whole purpose of password protecting the documents. Excel documents seem to be working with the box popping up asking for the password or open as read only by clicking the links for them on the page, but the word documents just open right up bypassing the password when you click their links on the page. What is the issue, and how can i get it to ask for the password to modify the word documents??? Thanks for the help!

Contact the server admin for this issue. It sounds like you have a problem with server security
