fp2003uk -> Expression aspx on localhost ? (11/4/2007 8:02:43)

Hi all,

Been a long time since posting.
I would like to play around with expressions aspx forms and have just installed Microsoft IIS5 from the xp pro disc. I can access http://localhost/localstart.asp but thats about it and everything else gets a password or access error.

Also, do i upload my new aspx form to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mynewform.aspx ?

And then access it from IE with http://localhost/mynewform.aspx ?

Or am I way out of my league on this one ?

Thanks

You should create your web in the wwwroot folder. Your forms will be saved in the web, so there's no need to upload at all.

Yes.

How can I make the IIS5.0 to run with ASP.NET 1.1? might be a start

They seem to be pulling the threads from the Microsoft Newsgroup. You might check those newgroups and post in the proper zone re: just running .NET in IIS 5.0

Thanks

Ive got it working but can only test the very basic of asp commands like text input box, any other asp component from expression simply doesnt show up on the test page in ie.

Is this because I need to install some serious scripting on my local server ?

I need text upload and image upload with both placed on top of an image by a control server side. Its for an online tshirt design site.

Thanks

edit: im looking at expression aspx as a newer more powerfull version of frontpage extensions, am i completely wrong about how this works ?

ASP.NET has been around for a long time. FPSE allowed users to create some simple things like a hit counter, form processing, etc without knowing any code.

Expression Web though wants the user to use more code to process items so that the results will be a compliant (X)HTML web page basically.

I wouldn't lump FPSE and aspx in the same comparison. They're both different things altogether.

Which aspects of FPSE are your applications taking advantage of that you would like to see greatly improved?

Go to this site: http://www.asp.net/downloads/essential/

First dowload and install the Framework (22.4 MB) and then download and install SDK (354.0 MB). IIS must be installed and work before these 2
