TJolly -> Bulk email problem (11/8/2007 12:56:30)

I hope I have posted this in the correct forum

Don't know if anyone can shed any light on this.

I am a member of a Committee that deals with the welfare of pensioners living in the area. It has its own website.

Over the past 6 months the Secretary has had problems when he bulk emails.

The secretary bulk emails members with any news about pensioners. At any one time he will send out approximately 1200/1500 emails in one go. Approximately one third of these emails (300/400) are returned to him with the following error:

SMTP connection failed.

The emails all belong to either:

btinternet.com
talk21.com
yahoo.co.uk

I am suspecting that they are being dealt with as spam.

Any other suggestions please?

Regards

Tj

What form processing are you using to send out the form? You might check out queue mail which might help when talking to those servers. It does not send all of the emails at one time and rather queues them a certain amount at time

Hi Corey

Thanks for the response. We sent a test mail out yesterday with the Norton firewall temporarily disabled. 2hrs later 421 were returned as described above.

I have made contact with Yahoo and hopefully this will be resolved in the near future.
