Background jumps on hover - roll over - 11/13/2007 14:18:35
What have I missed? The background graphic in the header of my page jumps up a few pixels when hovering over the navigation. I know it's probably something simple that I have overlooked but I've been looking at it far to long now to see the glitch. Page looks / works fine on local machine but when uploaded to server it has this problem. Any ideas? URL is < http://www.webwerqs.ca > Thanks for taking a look.

Personally I wouldn't do it like that - having the banner image split up like that. Just have the banner image as one image then have the navigation as a simple list with list items floated underneath (make each link display:block in the hover, focus and active rules with the orange background in the hover, focus and active rules ). Also - I'd take IE out of quirks mode (makes life far too complicated!) Something like this although I'd urge you to not use PT for font sizing and to use a larger background image for the navigation so that it has room to expand if the font-size is expanded.

Once again you have been an invaluable source of knowledge and help. By the way I have cleared that issue of the customer who wanted something for nothing, took your advice (and others as well) and have a contract and have made it abundantly clear I won't do work for family or close friends ( personal sites yes but business sites... no way!) Thanks again
