fhenkel -> Imbedded Sound file Problem (11/15/2007 11:57:04)

Using Expression Web I've placed a sound midi for the page load. According to the EWD help it installed the sound code but no sound when the page loads. Any help? The code includes "bgsound" which, when mouseover it say that is no longer allowed?? EWD wrote the code?

bgsound is one of my pet hates. You're forcing people to listen to stuff whether they want to or not. Their only option is to turn off their speakers and if they're at work then they won't thank you for letting the entire office know they're surfing instead of working.

As I remember, and it's a long time since I looked, bgsound requires a wav file not an mp3 and EW will tell you it's not allowed as it's not part of the HTML 4.0 or XHTML 1.0 specification.

Jaybee,
I respect your opinion on the playing of sound. This is for a family's website and their Hero's Page. It is of their three sons, two that are in the war and one that just got discharged. I've placed the National Anthem to play once when loaded. It is a short Midi file which used to work under FP but isn't playing when created by EW. What I'm asking is how to get it to work.

If it is no longer allowed, why would EW create it in the first place? Even the EW Help tells you how to create background sound and it writes the code?? Is there any code that will work?
